On the river

The current
sets the pace.

Free kayaks from the dock and guided trips upriver. Take a hammock-house paddle out before breakfast. Lie still all afternoon. Both count.

A close-up editorial shot of a wooden paddle dipping into glass-like river water, morning mist on the surface.
Free 2 hours

Dawn Paddle to the Gorge

Take a hammock-house kayak out before the heat lands and slip into the limestone gorge while the mist is still on the water. No guide, no schedule, just the paddle by the dock and a tide that does most of the work.

Included

Natural hot springs cascading down limestone rocks into a calm river, lush tropical vegetation framing the scene.
Guided Half day

Hot Springs Boat Run

A lancha runs you upriver to the riverside hot springs where warm sulphur water meets the cool Rio Dulce. Soak, swim the cold side, and motor back before the afternoon rain. Towels from the palapa, snacks from the kitchen.

Q150 per person

A dramatic view from the water looking up at towering limestone cliffs of a river gorge covered in clinging vines and greenery, deep clear emerald green water.
Free 1–2 hours

River Gorge Swim

Walk the dock, leave the shoes, and slip into the deep green water below the limestone walls. The gorge holds the cool through midday. Bring a dry bag for the way back if you wandered upriver.

Included

A tranquil sun-drenched lagoon bordered by dense reeds, water surface barely rippled, edge of a wooden canoe floating quietly.
Guided 3 hours

Manatee Lagoon Drift

A slow paddle into the protected lagoon where the manatees come up to breathe. The guide cuts the motor a hundred meters out and you drift the rest of the way. Most people see one. Some see five.

Q200 per person

A candid unposed photograph of a vibrant local river market, small wooden boats laden with fresh colorful tropical fruits.
Guided 4 hours

Village Market Run

The Thursday lancha to the Q’eqchi’ market upriver. Cacao pods, river fish, hand-tied hammocks if you want one for home. The boatman waits, the kitchen takes whatever you bring back.

Q120 per person

A dense jungle path at dusk fading into twilight shadows, soft warm lantern light illuminating the foreground foliage.
Guided 1 hour

Night Sounds Walk

After the generator cuts at ten the jungle gets loud. A guide with a single red headlamp walks you the dock path and names what you are hearing. Frogs, fishing owls, the slow river itself.

Q80 per person

Close-up of weathered hands holding a freshly opened cacao pod, white pulpy beans inside, softly blurred lush greenery behind.
Guided Half day

Cacao Farm Visit

A short boat ride and a longer walk to the family cacao farm. Pick a pod from the tree, taste the fruit, watch the slow roast that becomes the bar you take home. Bring a bag, the farm sells.

Q180 per person

A wide wooden dock extending over calm water at sunset, single yoga mat rolled out, sky painted in soft hues of peach, pale gold and twilight blue.
Free 45 minutes

Sunset Dock Yoga

A quiet hour on the back dock as the river goes orange. No mat, just a folded sarong from the palapa. A guest leads it most weeks. Some weeks nobody shows and the dock is yours.

Included

Booked at the dock. Paid in quetzales. No advance, no commitment.
